French Procelain Mantel Cocks, Vincenti

E-mail this product to a friend

Beautiful unique cobalt blue porcelain French mantle clock; Circa 1855 by French manufacturer Vincenti. Handpainted portrait signed by artist Damin. Porcelain case is a deep cobalt blue with gold gilt designs on top and sides. Case is in excellent condition. There is a hairline fracture in the top of the case above 12 o'clock that is hardly visible. Bezel has thick beveled glass and the porcelain dial has two small chips around 4 o'clock winding arbor. There is some crazing in the white portion of the portrait area.

*The back hinged cover is beautifully engraved with the message "PRESENTED TO A BALFOUR GRAY ESQ BY THE MEMBERS OF THE BLACKHALL BOWLING CLUB ON HIS LEAVING BLACKHALL 24TH NOVEMBER 1899". If this clock could talk, I'm sure it would have an interesting history to tell. Movement is stamped "Medaille D'argent Vincenti Cie"; (Silver Medal). 8-day movement with hour and half hour strike on a bell. Original movement has been professionally restored; disassembled, cleaned, pivots resurfaced and polished, bushings were necessary, lubricated and throughly checked out.

*Dimensions of the clock measures: 9-5/8 x 9-1/2 x 5
